My blog doesn't really stem from total self absorbtion, but from my need to remind myself that in spite of a lot of change in my life right now, I'm still really enchanted by small things and love and appreciate so much of what I see (or think about) in a day. My new job is not a career job and at my advanced age :) and experience, it's daunting. Plus extra income right now isn't really a choice and as you all know...I like choices...So, maybe I am a little self absorbed...which brings me to the towels!
I love second hand towels (something many people think is just plain disgusting). Seriously, they're super soft and have been washed enough that any chemical and dye residue is gone and they are usually lint free. I always wash them throughly before using them and for anyone who still thinks this is gross, do not even get me started on how gross towels from luxury hotels can be...there's a reason even the Ritz uses industrial strength detergents.
This one has been "in the family" for over 65 years. It was part of a wedding present set my grandparents received. The set was considered "the good towels" and was not used much. Does every family have "good towels"? Mark once yelled at me for "hogging all the good towels" and now he has one that's off limits to me, he even named it...."Bluey" (it's blue). Anyway, when my grandmother died, my mother took her towels and ceremoniously presented my brother and me with one each. You can see that towels are important if they are actually bequeathed in this family!
This one was a great find at the thrift store...so girlie and pretty.
And this is actually a 5x4 piece of vintage terrycloth, used as a towel and never even hemmed at the edges. This is the only towel in the household that I can actually wrap around me! I love it...so soft.
Guess who my favorite two-dimensional South Park Character is?
