It's been a nutty few months over here and last week it all ended when we finally felt our place was ready and let our agent show it. We were ready a month ago, but didn't feel ready. The small list of "to-do" seemed like too much, so we waited until after Art Street to get the show on the road. We've had two showings and expect to have many more next week when we drop into the MLS# system. Yay!
I was out at The Flying Pig the other day and dropped off 58 new pieces and pulled the old stock, so you can expect to see some listing action in my shop over the next couple of days, but if you are local, they've got some really nice pieces.
All and all, Art Street was a decent show this year. Sunday's nice weather salvaged the weekend and I am grateful. It wasn't the "blow-out sell-out oh my God!" show that it was for me last year, but it was OK. Our local paper ran an article saying that attendance was way down and that both the weather and the economy were a factor.
I have a few updates, but first, I want to thank my local North Shore Bank for making Little Orange Kitchen the Business of the Month! I love how they support Indie businesses and they are so friendly over there. I bank at the Allouez location and it truly has that small town neighborhood bank feel. I walk in and they know my name. I love it.
They invited me to set up a little table in the entrance and to provide information about what I make and some examples. I like knowing that the wallets are in the bank, it's very symbolic. Thanks to Laurie, Maggie and Marnie for being so nice and supportive! I wish the pictures were better.
Inglourious Basterds: (that's how they spell it) Loved it. Mark had wanted to see it for weeks, but I wanted to wait until we were finally done with the condo. We saw it Monday. It was excellent and Mark was surprised when I gave it 4 stars. If you like 40's women's clothing...you will fall apart over the shoes.
Dakota Skye: Loved it.
Number of books on bee-keeping recently read: 6 (I'm going to set-up a hive once we sell the condo!)
Book that may finally be a catalyst to help me change my life/body: Spent
Best news I've heard all week: My friend Angela of Crafty Bitches fame is starting to put together some classes for kids! Her kids classes are under the name Artypants! She doesn't have an Artypants specific blog yet, but you can find her on facebook or over here if you are local and have questions.
Biggest shock to the system: We're canceling cable --- Mark finally agreed...of course, now I'm the one who's wondering how I'm going to live without my mindless staples like Tool Academy.
Most disgusted moment: Hearing Joe Wilson's shockingly rude outburst during the President's address last night.
Favorite new paper pattern:
I'm off to compulsively clean and touch-up the just painted windows!
