We all know that my favorite people/portrait photographer is Aubrey over at Lemon Drop Studio, but today I wanted to mention my favorite landscape/food photographer Jennifer Squires. About a year ago, she found me (or I found her...I can't remember) and I regularly check out her etsy shop to see what's new. I told her a long time ago that I wanted to mention her on the blog, but you all know the story of my best intentions etc...etc...etc...
What I didn't know until recently is that like Aubrey, Jennifer also has a blog! This was a fun discovery because I always like personal tid-bits and more photographs of cupcakes. She offers a few recipes (Including her grandmother's pie crust!), green tips and her bathroom floor project was pretty inspiring, especially since I'm in the middle of one of my own!
My favorite Jennifer Squires photograph is this one:
It's not that I have an overwhelming attraction to Greece, but there's something about this that looks so contained...close quarters, but lots of stories and can you imagine the music that might come from that restaurant late at night? I can just see the whole village lit up in the evening and how pretty it must look from the water.
So, I just wanted make sure you knew about her work and her blog. Speaking of blogs...wow...I've recently discovered (without even looking!) two blogs that I enjoy...even if I don't visit as often as I want to.
The first is: My Creative Journey...this is a great resource blog for artist inspiration. She interviews artists and writers, has a sidebar filled with artist links and tip sites...I really like it. The interviews are especially inspiring.
The second is: Agent Mermaid Her profile reads:
They nodded in agreement, and I became Agent M.
Ha! Do you all know that I'm a mermaid/selkie nut and my last name starts with M...? I'm so mad at Agent M (Katie) for thinking of it first! :) Her stickers reminded me that my Xyron sits unused (another
best intentions for stickers made out of my scraps etc...etc..etc...). You won't find any in my shop because she has so many cute ones in hers, but maybe you locals will see some of mine make an appearance at the farmer's market. Look at the Contempt movie poster she has in her sidebar...LOVE!
And this is one of those fun projects that makes you feel like the world isn't such a place after-all...
In other news...I'm swamped with this house finishing stuff...there have been more tears over here than anyone would believe...really.
TIP: Never buy a place you intend to remodel and live in it without finishing the remodel because you may end up needing to sell it and finally make a 100% close on the Green Bay life to embrace the "Cultural and Intellectual Center Of the Chippewa Valley" (that's what the University calls Eau Claire and really...there is a lot of cool stuff going on over there like Volume One Magazine) and the back and forth rush to put things back together that you tore apart will probably kill you.
For years I've been drawing on my walls thinking it didn't matter because we were going to paint them or knock them down eventually anyway...and now, we have to paint walls we could have just left as is simply because Laura and Harold have more in common than you might imagine.
Thank you so much for featuring my work! I'm glad that you discovered my blog, I've been spending a lot of time on it lately trying to keep it fun and delicious.
It's interesting that you see a lot of close quarters in the Greece photograph "Perched" and think of festive evenings, I find myself reflecting a lot about the importance of community and how it feeds the soul.

I LOVE that cupcake photo!!! I just bought a print to put into my kitchen (coffee themed, are you surprised?) as I felt the need to add a little color in it.
Speaking of house finishing, I hope to get some stuff done around my home this weekend too - i've put it off too long!
Have a great weekend Laura! :)
