It's a good thing I have inexpensive taste (at times). In my defense, I just hate it when I fall in love with an item that's clearly going to have a one season fashion run and will never be available again. I like to wear things well past the "fashion expiration date" which I have no doubt will get me black-barred in Glamour magazine someday, but I don't care!!! You may remember that it happens with purses too!
I finally had a day off and headed to the Bayshore Center in Glendale (just outside of Milwaukee) for an Artist's Date. I wandered and then went to Alterra (a small chain of Wisconsin based coffee roasters) for an iced chai with skim milk and people watched for a half hour or so. I passed on all of the ungodly good looking baked goods and the creme fraiche truffles. Sigh.
Next I wandered Barnes & Noble. I had lunch at Bravo!Cucina, which I didn't realize was a chain until just now when I looked up their website, but it was pleasant and the service was good. I had a fantastic steak salad with Roma tomatoes and avocado.
Outside, (in the center of the square) are several fountains of water coming out of the concrete. A bunch of kids were shoe-less ((some shirtless) playing in them and having a blast. I loved seeing this...the area can be a little bit stuffy, so it was nice to see the kids really having fun and cooling off without snooty adults ruining everything. I just read on-line that playing in the fountain is actually encouraged! It was super muggy today and I so wanted to join them!!!!

I chose to wander Trader Joe's instead. I picked up some Thai chili-lime cashews for my friend Janet (of the coffee table/plant fame).
What kind of Artist's Date would it be if I didn't come home with the perfect addition my inspirational artist's tool kit? A PEANUT ERASER!!! Aghahaahahaahaahah! I LOVE IT!
Then, I drove the 1.5 hour ride home in a terrible storm...lots of rain and lightening. Mark and I watched The Lookout which was excellent by the way. The ending is a bit rushed, but it was good (painful to watch in some places). Great acting all around.
It was a nice day and I needed to get away. My face is super itchy and my nose is red. I'm wondering if I have some sort of wheat allergy. It seems like whenever I stop eating bread for awhile and then have a little, I get head cold symptoms that disappear after a few hours. Hmm...it might be obvious, but I think I'm going to give myself permission to be in denial for awhile. I don't even want to think about the implications of not eating flour permanently!! Maybe I just have a cold and facial poison ivy. Yeah, that's the ticket.
So, that's it Kitchenettes! Off to bed and back to work in a few hours. Sweet dreams!!
